Parents donate one kidney each to save their children
THE parents of two children diagnosed with uremia have decided to donate one kidney each to save their son and daughter in Chengde City, Hebei Province, Beijing News reported.
The kidney transplant between mother and son was completed in Beijing yesterday afternoon, according to the report. The same surgery will be scheduled for the father and daughter.
The couple’s 17-year-old son Li Kai was diagnosed with uremia in 2010. His sister was diagnosed with the same disease in 2012.
The General Hospital of Chinese People's Armed Police Forces in Beijing said it would not charge the family for the surgeries after it had learned of their situation through media reports.
