Party expels former tourism official for corruption
A FORMER deputy director of the China National Tourism Administration has been expelled from the Party and public office for corruption and leaking Party and state secrets, the anti-graft authority said yesterday.
The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection said Huo Ke had seriously violated Party discipline.
He accepted bribes and took advantage of his post by seeking benefits for others through promotion of cadres and business operations, according to a commission statement.
Huo is suspected of criminal acts in accepting and offering bribes and leaking secrets, it said. He had also impeded an investigation by authorities, the statement added.
Huo, as a cadre of the Party and state who worked in key posts for a long time, should have born in mind Party tenets, strictly abided by the Party’s code of conduct, and maintained his integrity, the commission said.
Instead, it alleged, he grossly violated the Party’s political, organizational and confidential disciplines, and he failed to refrain from wrongdoing even after the Party’s 18th National Congress.
The CPC Central Committee approved Huo’s expulsion from the Party according to discipline regulations. The State Council approved his dismissal from public office.
In addition, Huo’s illegal gains have been confiscated, and his criminal case transferred to judicial organs.
Huo was former head of the secretariat of the Party’s General Office until he left in December to join the tourism administration, according to his official biography.
His term in the general office coincided with Ling Jihua, who will also be prosecuted for corruption, the government has said.
