Party official sacked after massage receipts scandal

THE Party secretary of an auditing bureau in Zhejiang Province has been sacked for using public funds to pay for massage services after an online user published his receipts.

The Dongyang City Party Discipline Committee is also moving to sack Wei Juntu as the bureau's director, Xinhua news agency reported today.

Wei, who had served as the head of the auditing bureau for nearly six years, reportedly used public funds worth 7,126 yuan (US$1,042) to pay for four massage services in 2003.

The four receipts, dated April 3 and 19, and September 24 and 27 in 2003, were posted on Tianya.cn, a popular community Website, on January 20. The receipts detail services such as "European-style massage" and "tips."

The online user, named "081209," claimed a European-style massage referred to sex which cost 400 yuan, while tips were 600 yuan.

The online exposure forced Wei to return all the money involved to the local disciplinary watchdog. But it remains unclear who actually received the massages.
