Passenger detained for threatening to hijack plane
A drunken man who threatened to hijack a plane from Beijing to Wuhan, capital of central Hubei Province, to protest flight delay, was held in police custody, Wuhan Evening News reported today.
The 47-year-old passenger surnamed Yuan threatened to hijack his plane MU2454 after it took off at 8pm yesterday to vent his anger over a three-hour delay caused by bad weather.
The crew members kept a vigilant watch on Yuan and reported to the police as well.
After the plane landed in Wuhan, Yuan was led away by airport police, the paper said.
Yuan didn't carry any hazardous object with him. He said he talked about hijack just to express his discontent. But his conduct has violated the law and he would be detained for several days, police told the newspaper.
