Passengers red-faced as greenies take off pants
A GROUP of 20 people who took off their trousers on the subway to draw attention to the environment angered Guangzhou city Metro authorities.
During their 50-minute subway ride on the city's Line 2 at noon, the group held slogans saying "low-carbon Asian Games," according to Information Times in southern Guangdong province.
Their "no-pants" ride was a copy of New York's annual event, held a week earlier. Metro authorities said they had zero tolerance for actions like this, and would ban such demonstrations.
Some passengers were shocked, complaining that it was embarrassing and had nothing to do with environmental protection.
However, organizer Liang Shuxin said: "The event is interesting and innovative as we express our hope for a low-carbon life and an environmentally friendly Asian Games. We would like to hold it again next year."
