Peace key to cross-Strait ties

PRESIDENT Xi Jinping yesterday stressed the peaceful development of cross-Strait ties, urging high vigilance against Taiwan independence.
He made the remarks during a panel discussion with the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference in Beijing.
“Peace is valuable and should be safeguarded,” Xi told political advisers from the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang, the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League and the All China Confederation of Taiwan Compatriots.
“The separatist forces of the ‘Taiwan independence’ and their activities threaten national sovereignty and territorial integrity,” he said.
“They are the hindrance to the peaceful development of cross-Strait ties,” he said.
