Pedophile sex killer sentenced to death

A MAN who killed a 10-year-old girl after sexually assaulting her in northwest China’s Shaanxi Province was yesterday sentenced to death at Xi’an Intermediate Court.
The 23-year-old, surnamed Hu, sexually assaulted the girl, surnamed Yao, and when she cried for help, suffocated her until she lost consciousness.
But after detecting that the unconscious child still had a heartbeat, Hu stabbed her to death with a fruit knife, local news portal hsw.cn reported.
On May 25 last year, Hu lured the child to a remote area and began kissing her and sexually assaulting her.
When the girl resisted and yelled for help, Hu suffocated her, the court heard.
After killing her, Hu fled the scene, leaving his clothes and shoes near a viaduct.
Hu said yesterday that he would appeal against the verdict.
