Perfect timing guaranteed for parade
CHINESE troops are guaranteed not put a foot wrong during the September 3 parade in Beijing, thanks to Beidou’s accurate navigational systems, a senior military official said yesterday.
All of the parade units have been working with the automatic timing system during their training, Major General Wang Shun told a press conference.
“We have strict standards for foot, armament and air formations,” he said, adding that the simulation system has improved precision and timing by focusing on arm and leg movement, and standing to attention.
Members of the foot formations must ensure the “brims of their hats, as well as their hands, weapons and feet are all in line,” he said.
“Soldiers in the foot formations can stand to attention for up to two hours and are able to perform a standard formation for a 200-meter parade-step march or a 1,000m quick march,” Wang said.
Parade troops are taught to maintain their high spirits and confidence, regardless of the heat, he said.
