Phone exec investigated
A GENERAL manager of the Sichuan branch of China Mobile is being investigated for economic disciplinary violations.
Li Hua, who has been in his post for more than 10 years, was brought into investigation by police last Friday for alleged money issues, Caing.com, a Beijing-based news website, reported yesterday. No details were available.
The report said Li Hua was implicated in the case of Li Xiangdong, an official in charge of China Mobile Sichuan's music ringtone services, who was caught in March when fleeing abroad with a large sum of money.
China Mobile refused to say whether the two cases were related. Li Hua told reporters previously that Li Xiangdong's offenses were strictly his personal fault.
The national audit office checked Li Xiangdong's assets and found wrongdoing before he ran away with hundreds of millions yuan of the company's money, the report said.
Li Hua, 51, was the one who promoted Li Xiangdong, 45, to his former post. He was the board president, general manager, and Party chief of China Mobile's Sichuan branch.
The report quoted an unnamed insider that whistle-blowing letters about Li Hua's offenses had been circulating inside the company. Nobody was really surprised that he was finally brought under investigation.
