Plainclothes hit by car as driver mistook him as thief
A woman in Guangdong Province hit a plainclothes policeman with her car as she thought he was the man who robbed her of her bag, Guangzhou Daily reported today.
The woman surnamed Chen was waiting at a crossroad in Shilong Town, Dongguan City when a man on motorcycle suddenly opened her door and took her handbag away. Chen started to chase after him.
The thief drove into a village and the plainclothes cop, Chen Haitang, happened to show up there. He also rode a motorcycle and joined the chase. In desperation, the thief threw away the bag and fled.
Chen, the cop, picked up the bag and rode back to find the owner. The woman saw her handbag hanging on the motorcycle and mistook the plainclothes policeman as the thief. She drove up to knock him down.
Chen showed his police badge when the woman got off the car and she apologized for the mistake. Fortunately, Chen was slightly hurt.
