Plunges 18 stories, hits snow, and lives
A WOMAN who fell from her 18th-floor apartment balcony in Beijing while hanging laundry survived the 60-meter drop after being cushioned by thick snowdrifts.
The 26-year-old office worker surnamed Ou suffered broken bones, yesterday's The Beijing News reported.
Not fully out of danger, she is receiving a blood transfusion, doctors said.
Ou was hanging laundry when she suddenly fell from the balcony into 10 centimeters of snow, her fall broken by bushes. Passers-by found her and security guards called emergency services.
One of her roommates said she had warned Ou about hanging laundry on the balcony because the balcony barrier was only 1 meter high, the newspaper reported.
Ou has lived in the flat with two friends for one year. She likes to air the laundry on the balcony, according to one of her roommates.
