Poison mushrooms kill 6

SIX members of a family in southwest China's Yunnan Province have died after eating poisonous wild mushrooms, doctors said yesterday.

A nine-member family from Zhenxiong County collected poisonous mushrooms from a nearby mountain on September, according to doctors at the People's Hospital in Guizhou Province, where the three surviving family members are in a stable condition.

Those poisoned were 58-year-old Zhu Shaorong, his daughter-in-law Deng Chengfeng and seven grandchildren.

Neighbors took them to a smaller hospital in Guizhou after they experienced diarrhea and vomiting. Zhu and four grandchildren died at there. The remainder were transferred to the larger hospital, where Deng died on Friday.
