Police: Nanjing gunman is not Zeng Kaigui
THE Ministry of Public Security has confirmed that the gunman suspected of killing seven people in seven armed robberies in the last eight years is not Zeng Kaigui, another killer on the ministry's B-class wanted list, media reported today.
Police are waging an intensive manhunt in Nanjing, the capital of the eastern Jiangsu Province, where the suspect shot a bank customer to death and robbed him of 200,000 yuan (US$31,700) on January 6, the Chutian Metropolitan Daily said.
Police detectives believed the suspect is the same gunman who has committed seven robbery killings since 2004.
Earlier reports said the suspect was Zeng Kaigui, who killed and robbed a man in southwestern Yunnan Province in 1995. Both Zeng and the Nanjing gunman are of the same physique, about same age and killed their victims with a pistol.
The ministry has ruled out that the Nanjing suspect is Zeng, but the killer's identity remains unclear.
