Police: Suspect hangs himself
A THEFT suspect hanged himself in a police station in Kunming, Yunnan Province in southwest China, local officers said yesterday.
Suspect Xing Kun was found dead in an interrogation waiting room at Xiaonan police station at 7:47am on Saturday, said Hou Xiaobing, deputy director of Wuhua District Public Security Bureau. Xing was put into the room at 4am, Hou said.
About 50,000 yuan (US$7,323) worth of Sony PSP game devices were stolen from a store on October 7.
On Friday, store owner Wu Yongcheng saw Xing selling the stolen PSPs. Wu seized Xing and took him to police.
Xing admitted he stole the devices during a police interrogation, Hou said.
A forensic examination found Xing died from "suicide by hanging," Hou said.
