Police apologized to blast scapegoat family
POLICE in southwest Yunnan Province apologized to family members of the suspect who killed himself and three others in a village demolition office blast on May 10 after the man was proved to be hired by others as a human bomb, Yunnan police announced on Tuesday.
Zhao Dengyong, 26, was paid 100 yuan (US$16) by two villagers to enter the Baihetan Town government building and the two villagers detonated the bomb he carried via a mobile phone, according to Yunnan Public Security Bureau.
The two plotters, Deng Deyong and Song Chaoyu, both from Yibo Village, have been arrested and confessed the crime, police said.
Earlier, Zhao's family said Zhao was a scapegoat in the bomb attack that also injured 13 others because he had never touched explosives nor did he have access to them. His motive remained unknown.
But police later published Zhao's diary and online chat logs, their interviews with local residents, and video footages of the bombing. They believed Zhao had hatred for society.
