Police arrest man over 9-year-old boy’s death
Shenzhen police have arrested a man on suspicion he kidnapped and killed a 9-year-old boy who had delivered food from a restaurant owned by his father, ycwb.com reported.
A man surnamed Wang reported to the police on Sunday that his son hadn’t returned since he went out to deliver food around 12pm. He later found a note from a suspected kidnapper in his restaurant asking for 60,000 yuan (US$9,677) in ransom, the report said.
Police caught the suspect, who is 23 years old and hails from Liaoning Province, around 12am on Monday. According to police, the suspect surnamed Dang said he called for takeout and kidnapped the restaurant owner’s son at his home on Pinghu Street. Dang killed the boy, hid the body in a dormitory room at a construction site and wrote the ransom note, the report said.
The jobless suspect told police he had ordered takeout from the restaurant several times before. Each time the owner’s young son delivered the food. Then he thought of the plan to kidnap the boy and blackmail the owner, according to the report.
The case is under further investigation.
