Police assistant gets jail sentence for rape

A former police assistant in Shenzhen, southern Guangdong Province was sentenced to six year in prison for raping and beating a woman, today's Southern Metropolis Daily reported.
The convict, Yang Xili, a patrol guard in a community in the city's Bao'an District, appealed the court verdict. His two accomplices surnamed Ye and Yan accepted their sentences of 1? years and one year respectively.
The prosecutor said the three men broke into the house of Yang Wu, 31, with rods on the night of October 23 last year. They raped and beat his 29-year-old wife for about an hour.
Former reports said Yang Wu hid himself cowardly in a closet a few meters from his bedroom where his wife was raped. He reported to the police after the rapist and his two accomplices left.
