Police chief murdered weeks after his promotion

A newly promoted deputy director of the Zhanhua County Public Security Bureau in eastern Shandong Province was murdered on Wednesday night and police were still searching for clues to his death, the Beijing News reported today.
Zhang Zhiguo was found dead near a pond in a residential complex not too far from his bureau. This complex is home to many workers in a local power plant.
A mechanic surnamed Mou was checking the pump around 10pm on Wednesday when he found Zhang's body. "I thought he was drunk," Mou said. When he came closer, he found Zhang's head was covered with blood from two wounds.
Zhang was promoted last month. The Shandong Public Security Bureau is investigating the case.
