Police crack murder case after remains found in toilet
After months of investigation, police in Chengde, a city in Hebei Province, announced that they have solved a murder case in which dismembered remains of a woman were found in a public toilet, local media reported today.
The woman victim, surnamed Li, was reported missing in October 2011. Her neighbor, surnamed Wang, was the main suspect because he had a dispute with Li, police said.
It was not till two years later that sanitation workers uncovered Li's body while doing cleaning rounds in the toilet. Upon discovery, the workers immediately alerted the authorities.
Li's body was then quickly sent to the city's criminal investigation lab for DNA analysis. The DNA sample matched Li's and Wang was quickly located and arrested on June 29 this year.
Wang admitted to the murder and explained that he grew up in poverty and in a broken family. He envied those who were wealthy like Li. After they had a quarrel over a leaking bathroom, Wang decided to murder her.
