Police deny parading prostitute in streets
POLICE in a south China city denied they had paraded an alleged prostitute through the streets as a punishment.
They denied a public accusation following an online post showing a picture of a handcuffed young woman walking barefoot and tied to a rope, today's Shanghai Morning Post reported.
The post claimed the woman, alleged to have been caught on July 3 in a crackdown on prostitution in Qingxi Town of Guangdong Province's Dongguan City, was paraded through the streets as a humiliation, the report said.
She was caught with another woman and two men in the crackdown. They have been detained, according to local media.
Dongguan police denied the accusation, saying the woman was confirming the site of the prostitution during investigation.
They said a television station worker privately published the photo without gaining approval from the police.
