Police find 111 riders in 39-seat bus, driver fined
A bus crammed with 111 people, including children, was intercepted yesterday in Changsha, capital of central Hunan Province, local media reported.
The bus was traveling from Changde in the province to Jiangmen in southern Guangdong Province. It has a capacity for 39 passengers but was actually carrying 111 people, including 22 children on their way to reunite with their parents during the summer holiday.
Police stopped the bus after receiving a tip-off from one of the passengers. All the passengers were sent off on other buses last night.
Police fined the driver 2,000 yuan (US$314.8) and confiscated his driving license. His bus company will also be fined.
