Police grab suicidal woman on 28th floor, saving her life
A 19-YEAR-OLD woman was saved as she threatened to jump off a high-rise residential building yesterday after learning her parents would divorce over trivial matters in Hefei, capital of east China’s Anhui Province.
Two police officers tightly grabbed the woman who was about to jump from a 28-story building yesterday morning, a local news portal reported.
The young woman was discovered contemplating suicide by a resident surnamed Zhang who went up to hang clothes on the top of the building. Zhang called police after trying in vain to change the woman’s mind.
Officers cordoned off the area and set up an air cushion on the ground in case the young woman decided to jump. While two officers tried to talk with the woman, she just smiled without saying a word.
Then they quietly approached her from the side, keeping the distance to within five meters, and grabbed her when the opportunity arose, the report said.
After the rescue, her parents said they would not get a divorce.
