Police hunt after fatal street fight

POLICE are hunting people involved in a fight in the southern Guangdong Province that led to the death of a Uygur street peddler.

The fight broke out about 4am on Thursday near a market in downtown Huizhou. A dispute sparked the brawl between two groups of peddlers, one from the northwestern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and the other from the central Hunan Province, Huizhou public security bureau said.

Police found an injured Uygur peddler lying on the ground when they arrived, but the Hunan peddlers had fled.

The man was rushed to hospital but died despite emergency treatment.

Six other people from Xinjiang suffered minor injuries and are being treated at a local hospital.

Local police have set up a task force to investigate the case and hunt for those on the run.

Police did not reveal the number of Hunan peddlers involved.
