Police nab gang after foreign waitresses kidnapped

POLICE have caught eight armed suspects who allegedly abducted and trafficked four foreign women in July this year.

Two women have already been rescued, Guangxi based Southern China Morning Post reported today. All had been abducted from Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and sold to buyers in Hainan Province.

The report said five unidentified men drove a minivan without license plates and abducted four waitresses from a cold drinks booth in Jiangping Town, Dongxing City, in the early hours of July 27.

They fired three shots with homemade guns and beat the booth owner and his foreign wife before the abduction, the report said. It did not reveal the nationality of the four waitresses.

Police investigated and targeted a suspect surnamed Wei as the ring leader. He was finally caught on August 25 in Beihai with another suspect surnamed Chen.

Their six accomplices had been caught three days earlier.
