Police offer 2.45m yuan bounty on killer
Police revealed two surveillance footages of the armed robber who shot a man dead outside a bank in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province last Friday and ran away with 200,000 yuan (US$31,700) in cash.
The two video clips, 5 seconds and 10 seconds long, showed the killer, identified as Zeng Kaigui, wearing a hat and carrying a bag as he ran in a hurry in a residential complex. Nanjing police said he might have planned the escape route and he seemed familiar with the area.
Zeng was identified by police as the same killer who killed six people in six armed robberies over the past seven years.
Police said Zeng was a former armed police soldier and knows how to avoid police detection. He never showed his face and always kept his head down in the footages.
Bounty on the killer, offered by public security bureaus in several cities, has amounted to 2.45 million yuan, the Beijing Morning Post reported today.
Last Friday, Zeng shot a man in his head shortly after the victim withdrew 200,000 yuan in cash from an Agricultural Bank of China office around 9:50am.
More than 13,000 police officers have been mobilized in a manhunt in the city of Nanjing.
