Police officer arrested after woman beaten to death

A police officer in north China's Taiyuan City who allegedly beat a woman to death was arrested this morning on an abuse of power charge, Xinhua reported.
A picture showing the police officer, surnamed Wang, supposedly beating a female migrant worker in front of a construction site has circulated widely on Weibo.
The woman, 47-year-old Zhou Xiuyun from Zhoukou City in Henan Province, was later found dead.
The incident took place on December 13, when Zhou’s son Wang Kuilin and three other workers came to the construction site where they worked seeking back pay.
The guard called the police. Worried about their son, Zhou and her husband also went to the site and Zhou was brutally beaten.
Police later questioned Wang Kuilin, who said he was not sure whether his mother was beaten to death at the construction site or at the police station.
Police said they are still investigating the case.
