Police officer suspect in fatal hit and runs

THE suspect behind hit-and-runs in east China’s Jiangsu Province which left four people dead and nine others injured is a policeman, authorities said Saturday.
Police received a report about a car ploughing into pedestrians in Jingjiang at 8:27pm on Friday. They said a 57-year-old was caught in nearby Taixing, where he serves in a local police bureau. Police said he had tried to commit suicide by taking poison and was in a coma.
