Police recapture escaped murder suspect

A fugitive who escaped from police at Beijing’s airport last month has been recaptured, the Beijing Times reported today.

The man, identified as Liu Xiaoqiu, reportedly was wanted for killing a fellow townsman in 1991 in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. He reportedly lived under the fake name Yang Xiaojun after escaping capture, the report said.

He was caught in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on September 23. Liu escaped the next day at Beijing airport’s Terminal 3 building when being transferred to another facility, the report said.

Police later offered a 50,000-yuan (US$8,154) reward for information of his whereabouts.

Police didn’t give details on where and how Liu was caught.
