Police recover stolen gun as suspects still at large

POLICE in Anhui Province have recovered an officer's stolen gun and ammunition, but are still searching for three suspects in the case.
Officers Zhang Long and Mao Jigen were suspicious of three men with an allegedly stolen moped. As they approached, the suspects fled in two different directions. Mao chased two on foot. He was hit on the head with a brick by one of the suspects. His gun and ammunition were taken by one of the suspects, China National Radio reported today.
Police have doubled the reward from 10,000 (US$ 1,460) yuan to 20,000 yuan for information on the suspects' whereabouts, the report said.
The suspects apparently dropped the gun and ammunition after they got away.
Special squads and police are sweeping the city in search of the three suspects, the report said.
