Police rescue kidnapped children

POLICE in Anhui Province have rescued seven kidnapped babies and children and captured seven suspects after a four-month investigation, the local public security authority said yesterday.
Family planning officers found a baby girl with an infertile rural couple in Qianshan County in Anqing City in August and police discovered they had bought her for 16,000 yuan (US$2,342) from a 16-member gang.
Further investigations in Hubei Province and Anhui led to the capture of seven gang members and the rescue of seven children aged between four months and 14 years.
Suspects confessed that they had abducted the children mainly in Hubei and sold them to rural families in remote areas of Anhui.
