Police round up robbery suspects

POLICE in Shenyang City, capital of Liaoning Province, have seized all four suspects after a robbery at the gate of a bank last month, the People's Daily said on its Website yesterday.

The four men are said to have attacked two women on December 4 and snatched 350,000 yuan (US$51,257) in cash from them after they left the bank in Shenyang's Tiexi District.

According to the two victims and a witness, the four suspects made their getaway in a red taxi.

During their investigations, police were told a man at a furniture market looked like one of the suspects.

But Sun Dapeng, 24, from Beian City of Heilongjiang Province, had left Shenyang.

Police learnt he was in Liaoning's Changtu County on Thursday and seized him as well as 180,000 yuan at a hypermarket in Changtu the same day.

Sun admitted carrying out the robbery with the other three, all home decorators.

Sun told police he had suggested the robbery as their wages had dropped during the off-season.

The four planned the robbery for several days and studied the scene in advance, Sun said.

They all left Shenyang after the robbery, he told the police.

Armed with this new information, officers then went to Beijing, Hengshui City in Hebei Province, and Liaoning's Suizhong County and apprehended the other three.
