Police rule out murder in student’s fatal plunge

POLICE in Luxian County in southwest China’s Sichuan Province say the death of a 14-year-old boy who fell from his dormitory was not murder.

The student from Taifu Middle School in Taifu Town in Luxian County, was found dead at 6:20am on April 1 in front of his dormitory building, police said.

A flurry of unsubstantiated allegations online said he was beaten by a gang and thrown to his death.

Police said Zhao was caught climbing over the wall trying to escape the boarding school on March 27. Since then he was under a lot of pressure and told his classmates he feared his father would punish him.

Zhao caught a cold on March 28 and his condition worsened on March 31. Teachers, classmates and students from the dorm said he was running a high temperature and may have been delusional

Police rejected online rumors that he was bullied or beaten up.
