Police seek clues to dismembered body in trash bins

THE remains of a dismembered human body were found in several plastic bags in trash bins in a residential complex in Shushan District of Hefei, the capital of east China's Anhui Province.

Police said a resident saw a suspicious red plastic bag yesterday morning and found ribs inside. She thought they were pork ribs and planned to use them to feed her dog. Then she found human hands and other body parts in other plastic bags, police said.

With the help of police dogs, officers found blood-stained gloves near the Building No. 37 and narrowed their search to Apartment 304 where an old driver lives. But they didn't find any trace of blood inside, Hefei Evening News reported today.

Police tried to figure out whether the victim was murdered here or dismembered here. They took away all the 20 trash bins in the building and sealed up Apartment 304 for further investigation.

Police are still searching for the victim's head and some missing body parts. Both the victim and the murderer have not been identified, the newspaper said.
