Police seek to reunite 11 trafficked babies with their parents

POLICE are working to reunite 11 babies saved from a baby trafficking gang in Yunnan Province with their parents, China Central TV reported today.

Railway police in Kunming found a man surnamed Gong often bought babies in Wenshan Prefecture, a poor rural area of Yunnan where baby trafficking is rampant. He sold the infants in other provinces, the report said.

After tracking his movements, police discovered a criminal network behind him, CCTV reported.

In a recent crackdown, police caught 32 people suspected of kidnapping and selling 21 babies. They rescued 11 of them, four girls and seven boys. CCTV broadcast pictures of the 11 babies in an effort to help police find their parents.
