Police shoot abductors, free woman
POLICE shot dead two kidnappers and caught another while rescuing a woman on Thursday in southwest China's Yunnan Province, yesterday's Chuncheng Evening News reported.
The woman, surnamed Jiang, 37, who was seriously injured, is in a stable condition.
The kidnappers had asked for 60,000 yuan (US$8,787) in ransom from the woman and her husband, owners of an inn in Tengchong Town of Baoshan City, police told the newspaper.
The husband, surnamed Kang, 38, called police about 3:20am and said his wife was abducted by three masked men who had stormed into their home and demanded money at knifepoint before fleeing with her.
Police set a trap and ended her ordeal.
