Police to probe unlicensed karaoke bar
POLICE and education officials in east China’s Jiangsu Province have begun an investigation into allegations that a technical college in Nanjing ran an unlicensed karaoke bar staffed by female students.
According to a report by Jiangsu Television, broadcast on Wednesday, the business operated from the canteen of Nanjing Urban Transportation School, and was managed by a man identified only as “Wu.”
In the report, Wu told an undercover reporter that customers paid 300 yuan (US$47) admission to the venue, which included the company of a young woman.
It did not explain who the customers were, or how Wu — who it said was not an employee of the college — managed to gain access to the building.
The report showed a number of women dancing and chatting with customers.
The Jiangsu Human Resources and Social Security Department, which supervises the school, and Nanjing police are investigating the allegations, the report said.
