Police urged to step up efforts to fight human trafficking

The Ministry of Public Security has ordered police at all levels to conduct a thorough check on children with obscure origins in its latest efforts to crack down on human trafficking.

Police will carry out DNA tests on children suspected of being abducted and match results with the database to find their parents, Beijing Times reported today.

Meng Jianzhu, Minister of Public Security, said yesterday that the country's police force will not stop efforts and investigation until all human trafficking cases are solved.

As of yesterday, a total of 103 abducted children have been rescued and 409 suspects have been detained in a nationwide campaign against human trafficking gangs.
