Premier pumps up keep-fit drive
AS part of a national campaign to courage people to get fit, all public sports centers will be open free to everyone on August 8 each year, designated National Fitness Day.
Regulations published yesterday and signed by Premier Wen Jiabao will take effect from next month, today's Shanghai Morning Post reported.
Privately run sports facilities are also encouraged to join the fitness campaign.
From next month, employers must organize sports activities during work breaks and if possible stage sports carnivals.
Schools must also ensure one hour of sports every day for students and hold at least one sports meeting on campus each year.
Management staff will also supervise community sports at parks, green spaces and other public venues.
