President Hu issues order to commend participants of military parade
CHINESE President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission Hu Jintao issued an order to commend all the military personnel participating in the massive parade yesterday in Beijing in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC).
These military personnel came from the army, navy, air force and the Second Artillery Force of the People's Liberation Army (PLA), the People's Armed Police Force and reserved force.
The order said, as the representatives of the country's defense forces, the officers and soldiers taking part in the military parade had done a great job in demonstrating to the world the great achievements of the national defense and the modernization of the army since the founding of the PRC, especially after the introduction of the reform and opening-up policy in 1978.
It said the participants' outstanding work had inspired the nation and aroused patriotism.
Hu inspected the armed forces that stretched about three kilometers along the Chang'an Avenue in the center of Beijing, which preluded a full-dress National Day military parade involving about 8,000 military personnel. More than 150 jet-fighters, bombers, helicopters and other aircraft in 12 echelons made a flight over the Tian'anmen square which was packed with some 200,000 people.
The parade is the 14th since the PRC was founded in 1949.
The order gave credit to the selflessness, hard work, good teamwork and sense of responsibility displayed by the military personnel in preparations for the military parade.
The order called on the officers and soldiers in the country to learn from the spirit of the personnel in the military parade and draw from their experiences to boost the construction and development of the army.
It also urged the armed forces to equipped the personnel with knowledge of socialism with Chinese characteristics, strengthen the education of "Scientific Outlook on Development", and foster the core values of military personnel, which refers to "being loyal to the Party, deeply cherishing the people, serving the country, showing devotion to missions, and upholding the honors".
