Presidents in Mexico talks

CHINESE President Hu Jintao met with his Mexican counterpart Felipe Calderon yesterday, a day before the start of a two-day G20 summit on issues affecting global economic growth.

During their meeting in the Mexican resort of Los Cabos, the two leaders were expected to exchange views on China-Mexico ties and international issues of common concern.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Mexico.

China is one of Mexico's major trading partners. Bilateral trade volume reached US$33 billion in 2011, an increase of 34 percent over the previous year.

At the summit, G20 leaders will discuss the world economic situation, the strengthening of the financial system, development and trade issues.
