Pricey gifts not allowed
THE Ministry of Education has warned schools and teachers not to take bribes or misuse public money ahead of the coming New Year and Spring Festival.
Teachers are banned from accepting money, securities and other expensive gifts from students and their parents, a circular issued by the ministry said on Friday.
The document also said that teachers must not ask for gifts from students.
The ministry also forbade schools from spending public money on festival banquets, gifts, overseas tours or entertainment activities.
Supervision of schools will be tightened by authorities and auditing departments, the ministry said. Those violating the rules will be punished, the document said.
