Prisoner flees hospital during heart disease treatment

A prisoner serving a life sentence escaped while undergoing heart disease treatment at a hospital in northeast China's Liaoning Province last Wednesday.
The provincial Justice Department confirmed that the inmate had escaped and said a manhunt was underway, Director Zhang Jiacheng told Beijing News today.
The prisoner ran away after being taken to the outpatient department of Shenyang's No. 3 Hospital Affiliated to Shenyang Medical College to have an ultrasound, a hospital staffer told the newspaper.
He got in a car with two others and left the hospital, a witness said, according to the report.
The prisoner was serving his jail term in Shenyang No. 2 Prison and had been in the hospital for weeks due to heart problems, the report said.
