Prisoner in jailbreak electrocuted to death
A PRISONER was electrocuted to death when he tried to escape through a high-voltage electrical fence network during a jailbreak attempt in Weifang City, east China's Shandong Province.
Zou Chao, 25, who was sentenced to death with a reprieve for murder and theft, started his jail term in the facility from October 2009, the Beijing News reported today.
He escaped by crawling through a bathroom window on the evening of October 23. Soon afterwards prison guards started to search for him.
A guard fired a warning shot after seeing Zou running on the roof. Zou ignored the warning and tried to jump across the electrical fence, but got caught in it and was electrocuted. He died at the scene.
