Probation for teen mother who killed her baby
A TEENAGE mother has been sentenced to three years' probation for killing her pre-term baby by throwing her from a fifth-floor window in Shenzhen, southern China's Guangdong Province.
The mother surnamed Lin, 16, wrapped the baby with its umbilical cord and killed her after giving birth in a dormitory toilet.
Shenzhen's Bao'an District People's Court yesterday found Lin guilty of intentional murder. The judge mitigated the punishment because Lin was underage and driven by primal instincts, he said.
In March this year, Lin, from Henan Province in central China, found herself five months pregnant. She claimed that she panicked and took abortion pills in a hospital without telling anyone, and then went into labor.
The baby was still alive when she was born but died instantly when thrown on a second-floor roof, according to Shenzhen Post.
