Probe into missing cash
SINOPEC Group has launched an investigation into an incident where a sales manager at a subsidiary in north China's Shanxi Province ran off with clients' money last year, the People's Daily reported yesterday.
The Jinzhong Oil Company said Wu Bo, their sales manager, disappeared on August 26 after some clients had transferred money to his personal account to buy oil.
The company reported the matter to the police on October 28. Meanwhile, people who said they had transferred money to Wu's account took the company to court demanding repayment of more than 5.16 million yuan (US$819,014).
The court decided it was a criminal case and sent it to police in Jinzhong, who are now hunting for Wu.
Sinopec said employees are not allowed to use personal accounts to receive money.
