Prostitution probe downgrades Chongqing Hilton
THE Hilton Hotel in southwest China Chongqing Municipality has lost its five-star rating because it was involved in a prostitution investigation, China's highest rating authority said today.
Hiton Chongqing Hotel was temporarily closed on June 20 after a police raid found sex trading in the hotel's Diamond Dynasty Club. The hotel resumed operation eight days later.
"The Hilton Chongqing has degraded the image of Chinese hotels, and we decided to revoke its five-star qualification," the National Hotel Ratings Committee said today.
The Diamond Dynasty Club in Hilton's basement is still suspended from operation and remains under police investigation.
