Public release for PLA combat game
AN online combat game developed by the Chinese military to train troops will go on sale to the public next year, its developer said yesterday.
Wuxi Giant Interactive Group, co-developer of China's "Mission of Honor" battle simulator, said it had been authorized by the People's Liberation Army to commercialize the game for sale, the PLA Daily reported on its website.
The first-person combat game became a training tool for Chinese military personnel in June.
It will be adapted to meet the requirements of war game fans.
A player starts as a rookie shooter at the military camp where he finished basic training. Following various missions, he becomes a veteran and teams up with comrades in an exercise codenamed "Mission of Honor."
Wuxi Giant Interactive said it has received positive responses from users.
A spokesperson for the company said it expected the commercial version to boost interest in the military among young Chinese.
