Quarantine official gets life for corruption
A former chief of the Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau in Rizhao, a city in eastern Shandong Province was sentenced to life in prison for corruption, embezzlement and bribery involving 160 million yuan (US$25 million).
Li Huasen, the former bureau director, was accused of stealing 65.2 million yuan of public money, abusing 89.4 million yuan of public funds, and taking bribes worth 5.8 million yuan during his office from 2003 to 2009, Shandong Business News reported today.
Li accepted the sentence and would not appeal to the higher court, the paper said.
