RAIL police rescued a passenger held hostage by a man who appeared to have mental problems yesterday morning on a train from Kunming, capital of southwest China's Yunnan Province, to Beijing.
No casualties were reported, today's People Daily's overseas edition reported.
The suspect surnamed Chen jumped from a train at Yuping station in central China's Hunan Province, rushed onto another train on the platform and seized a passenger surnamed Jiang as hostage, the report said.
Police managed to rescue Jiang after a one-hour deadlock.
