Railway reopens as death toll from crash reaches 38
THE section of a high-speed railway in Wenzhou City in neighboring Zhejiang Province, which was closed after a catastrophic train crash on Saturday night, reopened this morning, railway authorities announced.
The number of suspended trains decreased from 58 yesterday to four this afternoon, railway officials said.
Meanwhile, Wenzhou government said three more bodies were found in train wreckages, bringing the death toll to 38. The final death toll might climb as some victims were still in critical condition.
Two bullet trains collided at about 8:30pm on Saturday on a viaduct near Wenzhou, causing four carriages of the moving train to fall 15 meters off the viaduct to the ground below.
